It is mid-February. The “changeable” weather is here. Warm one day, cold the next, windy the following. The nasturtiums are blooming – I had to smile at their happy flowers.

This morning there were winter advisories out due to the wind chill…possibly as low as -24 in the Berks! We’ll see nasturtiums sometime, but I don’t think it will be very soon.
Last weekend it was -25C here, and we had a huge flock of robins arrive on our Mountain Ash tree. They stayed a week and cleaned off all the remaining berries. Now most have moved on, but some are still hanging around looking for handouts. I guess they didn’t hear that the groundhog didn’t see his shadow on Groundhog day! I’m looking forward to a temperature on the + side of the thermometer for the first time in 2007!
I just saw (and smelled) our first nasturtiums while walking along 15th on Cap Hill. They were in full bloom right across the street from that converted fire station video place. What a thrill to experience the same natural pleasure from different sides of the planet – one benefit of non-native species, I guess.
I like it!
